Ebonyi State Approves Cement Plant with Chinese Firm

The Ebonyi State Government has approved the establishment of a cement plant in collaboration with China JIANGSU PENGFEI GROUP LTD. This decision was announced by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Ikeuwa Omebeh, following an emergency Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki.

A memorandum of understanding and an agreement were signed between the Ebonyi State Government and the Chinese company, with further processes underway. Governor Nwifuru had previously invited Chinese expatriates to inspect the proposed site for the factory, leading to a two-week visit to China by a delegation of government officials.

The State Executive Council was briefed on the outcomes of this trip. Additionally, Omebeh mentioned that Governor Nwifuru ordered the termination of uncompleted road projects across the state due to contractor failures.

The government aims to enhance the University’s status as an educational and technological tourism destination and has procured a high-density electricity generating set for power supply.
