ADC Criticizes Nigeria's Security Budget Shortfalls

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed serious concerns regarding the Nigerian government's insufficient funding for military logistics, particularly in light of the 2025 budget allocation for security equipment. The party noted that while N336.76 billion was approved for security, only N16.71 billion has reportedly been released, leaving critical areas such as transport, aircraft, and military barracks unfunded.

This shortfall is seen as detrimental to the military's operational capacity, especially as insecurity escalates across the country. The ADC highlighted the recent mass abduction of 400 women and children in Ngosh, Borno State, by Boko Haram, who are demanding a ransom of N5 billion.

The party criticized the government's failure to act decisively against such threats and warned that the mismatch in funding priorities could weaken Nigeria's security system, leaving communities vulnerable to attacks. The ADC called for urgent action from the federal government to ensure the timely release of security funds and improve logistical support for military operations.
