APC Chieftain: Nigeria's Insecurity Transcends Politics

On September 14, 2026, Garba Datti, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman for the North-West, addressed Nigeria's escalating insecurity, asserting that it has surpassed political boundaries and that no one is safe from becoming a victim. Speaking on Trust TV, he discussed the security challenges in the North-West, particularly the impact of banditry on residents and farmers.

Datti acknowledged that President Bola Tinubu's administration inherited the insecurity crisis but is implementing measures to combat it, including deploying military equipment and logistics. He reported improvements in security along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari corridor, where residents can now travel at night, and farmers are returning to previously abandoned lands.

However, he noted that some areas in Kaduna and Sokoto states still face bandit attacks. Datti emphasized the need for a collective response to insecurity, highlighting that it affects all Nigerians regardless of political affiliation.

He also mentioned the potential foreign financing of criminal activities linked to groups from the Sahel region.
