NSCDC Chief Warns of Interagency Rivalry in Security

Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), raised concerns about interagency rivalry hindering Nigeria's security response during the launch of a book titled "Nigeria's Security Dilemma: Rivalry Implications, Vol. 1" in Abuja.

He argued that no single security organization has the capacity to address the multifaceted threats facing Nigeria and insisted on a unified front among agencies. Senator Adam Oshiomhole echoed this sentiment, advocating for mandatory intelligence sharing among security agencies to enhance operational effectiveness.

He noted that successful operations often face frustration when suspects are released on bail. Rear Admiral Olusanya Bankol, representing the Ministry of Defence, acknowledged the challenges posed by interagency competition and disclosed ongoing efforts to improve collaboration among security institutions.

The event was attended by senior security officials, including Inspector General of Police Mr. Olatunji Disu, who emphasized the urgent need for stronger cooperation to address Nigeria's escalating security crisis.
