Nigerian Youths Urged to Drive Community Improvement

At the Young Change Makers Summit in Abuja, Dr. Kingsley Udo, the Country Director of International Alert Nigeria, called on Nigerian youths to identify ways to improve their communities. He emphasized that young people should move beyond questioning who holds them back and instead take responsibility for positive change.

Udo highlighted the potential of youths to engage in climate action, community cleaning, peace promotion, and democratic development. He acknowledged existing government initiatives but stressed that more investment in youth development is necessary due to Nigeria's large youth population.

Agustin Ajijelek, Senior Technical Adviser to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs on Poverty Reduction, noted that the ministry is implementing programs to enhance the economic participation of young Nigerians, having trained 18,000 youths in various skills. Dr. Azeezat Yishau, a Youth Policy Strategist, emphasized the strategic role of youths in addressing climate change and peace-building, urging them to take leadership in shaping their future.
