IPOB Accuses Akpabio of Threatening Biafra Movement

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, of threatening to use federal power to suppress the Biafra self-determination movement. This accusation follows remarks made by Akpabio during a burial ceremony for Sir Albert Nnamani Ikem in Enugu State, where he urged Southeast leaders to discourage youth from taking up arms in pursuit of Biafra.

IPOB's spokesperson, Emma Powerful, responded by stating that the group is strictly focused on a peaceful referendum and does not engage in armed struggle against Nigeria. IPOB characterized Akpabio's comments as politically intimidating and misleading, asserting that their movement is rooted in democratic principles and human rights.

They emphasized that the right to self-determination belongs exclusively to the people of Biafra and that no political authority can deny them this future.
