IPOB Threatens 2027 Election Boycott Over Kanu's Appeal

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government of Nigeria to ensure the listing and hearing of Nnamdi Kanu's appeal. Mazi Chris Nwaogu, IPOB's Head of Directorate of State, accused the government of deliberately delaying the appellate proceedings after hastily securing Kanu's conviction.

Kanu's family has expressed concerns over the prolonged delays in his appeal against the life sentence he received. They revealed that Kanu had written to the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the President of the Court of Appeal, requesting immediate action on his pending cases.

Nwaogu stated that if the government fails to act within the deadline, IPOB would mobilize for a boycott of the 2027 general elections across Biafraland. He criticized the judiciary's handling of Kanu's case and challenged the Supreme Court's decision that overturned Kanu's discharge by the Court of Appeal, claiming it exceeded constitutional powers.
