Trump Addresses Iranian Attacks in Strait of Hormuz

On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump reported that Iranian attacks in the Strait of Hormuz resulted in little harm, emphasizing the need for South Korea to join military efforts to protect commercial vessels.

Trump made these comments via a post on Truth Social, where he did not mention an apparent attack by an Iranian unit. He highlighted the importance of U.S. naval forces in safeguarding shipping movements, particularly after U.S. forces shot down seven small Iranian military boats.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) head Admiral Brad Cooper confirmed that U.S. forces engaged in missile and drone fire to defend commercial ships.

Trump also noted that U.S. Apache Seahawk helicopters had targeted six Iranian boats threatening commercial shipping.

This military action follows a history of tensions, including a massive military campaign against Iran initiated on February 28, which led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil export route.
