Iraq Secures Final Spot in 2026 FIFA World Cup

Iraq has completed the lineup for the 2026 FIFA World Cup by clinching the final qualification spot after defeating Bolivia in a playoff match at Monterrey Stadium, Mexico. This victory marks the end of Iraq's global qualification campaign, which began on September 7, 2023, and included a total of 21 matches.

Iraq's Aymen Hussein was instrumental, scoring a total of 2,527 goals throughout the qualification phase, averaging 2.8 goals per game. The World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across 16 host cities in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

The tournament will feature 48 teams, with Iraq joining France, Senegal, Norway, Czechia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, and Sweden among others. The qualification process involved high drama and concluded with a total of 899 matches played globally.
