Muslim Group Declares Islam Not Linked to Terrorism

During a press conference in Ibadan, Sheikh Tajudeen Abdul Kareem Baba Lagbeni, the Amir of the Federation of Ahlu Sunnah, asserted that Islam has no connection to terrorism, banditry, or other criminal activities. This statement was made in response to the recent abduction of 39 students and seven teachers in Oyo State.

The group condemned the actions of bandits and terrorists, emphasizing that such acts are not representative of Islamic teachings. Sheikh Abdul Kareem urged the federal government and security agencies to take immediate action to address insecurity in the country.

He noted that the group would continue to pray for the release of the kidnapped individuals and called for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing challenges. The Amir highlighted that true followers of Islam would not engage in violence or unjust killings, reinforcing the message that Islam promotes peace and harmony.
