Cleric Raji: Terrorists Do Not Represent Islam

In a message delivered during the Eid al-Adha celebrations, Islamic cleric Abdul Ganiyi Raji, representing the Nasrul Lahi L Fatih Society, declared that terrorists and bandits operating across Nigeria do not identify as Muslims. He stressed that these violent groups misrepresent Islam, which promotes peace, tolerance, and respect for human life.

Raji condemned the actions of such groups, stating they do not reflect the teachings of Islam. He noted that many Muslim leaders have consistently condemned terrorism and banditry, and he criticized the portrayal of criminal gangs as religious groups.

Raji highlighted the negative impact of insecurity on children’s education, particularly in northern Nigeria, where many have been denied access to schooling due to violence. He urged media organizations to provide platforms for moderate Islamic scholars to convey the true message of Islam, which encourages peace and coexistence among different faiths.

Raji referenced several verses from the Quran that advocate for justice and mutual respect among people of varying religious and ethnic backgrounds.
