Rudeboy Critiques New Generation of Nigerian Music Artists

In a recent interview on Wazobia FM, Rudeboy, an Afrobeats veteran and one half of the music duo P-Square, shared his thoughts on the music produced by the new generation of Nigerian artists. He stated that he cannot create music like the new generation and would not attempt to do so, as it would inflict mental, emotional, and career damage on himself.

Rudeboy expressed that the current strain of Afrobeats does not make sense to him, and he would not feel proud to share such music with the public. He acknowledged the notable sonic shift in Nigerian mainstream pop music, led by rising stars who are adding complexity to the soundscape.

Despite his reservations about the new generation's music, Rudeboy plans to continue delighting listeners with his own music. On July 24, he released a new single featuring Ghanaian superstar rapper, which reflects on his journey to the top with familiar melodies that have characterized his hit records.
