ITU Promotes Women's Role in Spectrum Management

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is addressing the underrepresentation of women in spectrum management, particularly in radio communication, where women account for less than a quarter of delegates. This concern was raised during the recent World Radio Communication Conference (WRC).

Mario Maniewicz, Director of the ITU Radio Communication Bureau, stated that the Coordinating Network of Women (WRC 27) will engage women and girls in spectrum-based technology to enhance their participation in spectrum-related decision-making processes. The initiative aims to empower women by developing their leadership and technical skills, which are essential for impactful roles in the radiocommunication sector.

The ongoing efforts are expected to increase visibility and participation of women in this field, contributing to a new paradigm in everyday norms within the sector.
