PDP Blames Lagos Government for Jakande Estates Flooding

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), represented by Publicity Secretary Prince Christopher Odianarewo, accused the Lagos State Government of neglecting residents and property owners in Phases 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the Anikantamo Jakande Estates on Lagos Island. The PDP alleged that over a decade of inadequate attention to critical infrastructure has exacerbated flooding and structural deterioration in the area.

They claimed that a drainage channel meant to direct floodwater into the lagoon was blocked during road works, trapping floodwater within the estates and endangering homes and residents' safety. The party criticized the government's relocation plan for affected residents, stating that no construction has commenced at the proposed site.

The PDP demanded the unblocking of drainage channels and a transparent, time-bound plan for relocation, emphasizing the need for accountability regarding years of neglect and hardship faced by residents.
