Jigawa State Establishes Committee for Polling Units Fund

The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the establishment of a state steering committee to coordinate the implementation of the Polling Units Development Fund across the state. This initiative, disclosed by Sagir Musa Ahmad, aims to strengthen grassroots governance and encourage community participation to ensure development projects reach ward and polling unit levels effectively.

The committee will provide policy direction, supervision, and monitoring to ensure the successful implementation of the polling unit ward development committee framework statewide. Membership will include representatives from local government associations and relevant ministries.

Additionally, the council approved funding for diesel supply to water stations in five emirate headquarters to improve water supply across the state. An allocation of N875.965 million was also approved for a food bank initiative to support 27,000 vulnerable women food vendors selected from polling units statewide.

Furthermore, a loan program was approved to empower members of the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcyclist Owners and Repair Riders Association of Nigeria in Jigawa State.
