Badaru's Ally Resigns from APC, Meets Atiku in Mecca

Mohammed Badaru Abubakar's ally has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and submitted a resignation letter to the APC ward chairman on March 15, 2026. The resignation is effective immediately and follows a history of service within the party, including roles as a special assistant for youth and sports and former chairman of Gwaram local government.

The individual expressed disappointment over the party's drift from its founding principles. Following the resignation, the ally met with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, while performing the lesser hajj (Umrah).

This political development comes amid reports of Badaru's meetings with opposition figures in Jigawa, including former governor Sule Lamido. Despite these developments, Badaru has publicly dismissed any suggestions that he may defect from the APC.
