Jigawa State Raises Minimum Pension to N20,000 Effective July 2026

The Jigawa State Government has approved an increase in the minimum monthly pension for retirees under the local government contributory pension scheme from N12,000 to N20,000, effective July 1, 2026. This decision was made during a state executive council meeting held on Monday, July 6, 2026, presided over by Governor Malam Umar Namadi.

The increase represents an additional N8,000 per month, which is approximately a 66.7% rise above the previous minimum pension. The council also approved an additional annual expenditure of N2,068,608,000 for the local government contributory pension scheme.

Governor Namadi stated that this measure reflects the government's commitment to improving the welfare and living conditions of retired public servants, recognizing their contributions to the development of the state during their years of active service.
