Joshua Kushner Hires Lawyer in Uefa Legal Dispute

Joshua Kushner has engaged high-profile US lawyer Alex Spiro, a partner at the New York law firm Quinn Emanuel, to represent his investment company, Thrive Capital, in a legal dispute with Uefa concerning a failed project linked to Fifa's World Cup. Spiro informed a US district court on Monday of his representation.

Thrive Capital had been involved in secret negotiations with Fifa president Gianni Infantino for a deal that would allow the private equity fund to acquire or market a commercial entity controlling up to a 20 percent stake in the World Cup. However, the deal has collapsed, prompting Uefa to intensify its investigation and challenge Infantino's leadership.

Uefa has initiated legal proceedings in three separate US courts to compel the disclosure of documents related to the Fifa Forward Enterprise project and seeks information from US banks JP Morgan and Greg Maffei, who were reportedly involved. Kushner expressed regret over Thrive Capital's participation, acknowledging a failure to understand the political dynamics of global football.
