Appeal Court to Review Tosin Ajayi Estate Judgment

The Appeal Court is set to hear a challenge regarding the estate of the late Dr. Tosin Ajayi, following a judgment delivered on June 17, 2026, by the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja.

The appeal, filed by Tomisin Ajayi, daughter of the deceased, through counsel Abiodun Owonikoko SAN, contends that the trial court made several legal errors. The appeal argues that the court improperly relied on a disputed marriage certificate and failed to give effect to a prior consent judgment from January 2021, which recognized Helen Prest Ajayi and Adenik Ajayi as co-wives of the deceased.

The appeal further claims that the trial court mischaracterized Tomisin Ajayi's status and exceeded its jurisdiction by labeling Helen Prest Ajayi as merely a mistress. The appeal seeks to set aside the trial court's judgment in its entirety and dismiss the respondent's suit, asserting that the trial court's findings were not supported by credible evidence.
