Tenant Dies Following Disputed Eviction in Lagos Estate

Pastor Bolaji Olukotun, a 67-year-old tenant, died after a disputed eviction at Admiralty Home Estate in Lekki, Lagos, on July 11. The incident arose from unresolved rental disputes between Olukotun and his landlord, who insisted he vacate the property after the expiration of their lease agreement.

According to Barrister Akpobom Deniran, Olukotun's lawyer, the eviction involved seven armed thugs and police officers, leading to severe physical distress for Olukotun, who was found lying on the ground in agony. Eyewitness accounts indicated that the eviction was carried out without a valid court order.

Deniran reported that Olukotun was taken to a private hospital but later died due to complications from the eviction. The lawyer alleged that the landlord's agent, Bless Idonor, and a prospective buyer, Mr.

Smith Murphy, were involved in the unlawful eviction. Olukotun's son, Ayodeji Olukotun, was informed of his father's condition shortly before his death, which was attributed to the brutal eviction process.
