Davido Appeals to Trump Over Osun Election Concerns

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reached out to U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the upcoming Osun State governorship election, scheduled for August 15, 2026.

His uncle, Ademola Adeleke, is the incumbent governor seeking re-election. In his communication, Davido raised alarms about the potential for violence, intimidation, and disruption of the electoral process.

He urged Trump and the international community to monitor the situation closely and advocate for the protection of voters. Davido emphasized the importance of a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process, stating, “We do not want bloodshed.

We do not want intimidation.” He mentioned that he would directly contact Trump through social media if he felt the election was not conducted fairly, even suggesting he might go to the White House for assistance. Davido called on political actors to respect the will of the Osun people, insisting they should be allowed to freely choose their governor.
