Gombe PDP Suspends Aspirants After Primary Controversy

The Gombe State chapter of the PDP suspended two governorship aspirants, Mailantarki and Garry, for a month due to gross misconduct and violation of party rules. This decision was made during an emergency joint meeting of the State Working Committee and ward executives on September 30, as stated by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Abdulkadir Ahmed Dukku.

The suspension followed a recent governorship primary where Prof. Isa Ali Pantami was declared the winner, polling 2,054 votes, while Mailantarki and Garry received 389 and 112 votes, respectively. The party criticized Mailantarki for claiming victory in a media interview regarding the September 29 primary, which they deemed unacceptable.

The two aspirants had initially accepted to participate in the primary but later engaged in actions contrary to party regulations. The matter has been referred to the party’s Disciplinary Committee for further action.
