Just In: Jubilation as 25 ISWAP/JAS Terrorists Surrender to Nigerian Army in Borno

In a significant development, 25 members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati wal-Jihad (JAS) terrorist groups surrendered to the Nigerian Army in Borno State. The surrender took place in Bama on August 11, 2025, with the troops also arresting 17 criminal suspects and recovering various weapons and equipment.

Additionally, 25 family members, including 12 adult females and 13 children, surrendered to the troops. In separate operations, the Nigerian Army also killed a terrorist in an ambush in Damaturu and apprehended suspected kidnappers in Shanga.

The military source highlighted the success of Operation WHIRL STROKE in Taraba State, where two suspected kidnap collaborators were arrested. The Defence Headquarters revealed that 800 terrorists are currently undergoing deradicalization and rehabilitation, with the government launching initiatives for their sustainable reintegration, including an agribusiness partnership with IITA.
