N-Power Beneficiaries Endorse Atiku for 2027 Election

A nationwide delegation of N-Power beneficiaries has declared their support for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 elections. AbdulAziz Na'ibi Abubakar, a political commentator and member of The Atiku Movement, announced this endorsement in a statement on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

Na'ibi claimed that 1.4 million N-Power beneficiaries supported Atiku, although this figure could not be independently verified. The N-Power program, launched in June 2016 under the administration of the late former President, aimed to address youth unemployment in Nigeria.

Beneficiaries received monthly stipends, with graduates earning N30,000 and non-graduates N10,000. In October 2023, an audit was ordered due to irregular payments to beneficiaries.

The National Programme Manager, Akindele Egbuwalo, signed a communique on behalf of then-minister Betta Edu, highlighting issues of beneficiaries receiving payments without fulfilling their assignments. In July 2025, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin facilitated discussions regarding an N81 billion backlog of unpaid allowances, leading to an agreement to suspend legal action against the government.

This backdrop of financial grievances coincided with the endorsement of Atiku.
