Nigerian Military Identifies Foreign Fighters in ISWAP

The Nigerian Military has reported the involvement of foreign fighters, specifically Moroccan and Palestinian nationals, in terrorist activities within Nigeria. This revelation comes after a failed attack by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on military troops during an operation in Kauwa, Kukawa LGA, Borno State.

The troops from the 19 Brigade, Sector 3 of the Joint Task Force North East, successfully repelled the attack on Friday night, inflicting heavy casualties on the insurgents. Captain Moham Goni, the spokesman for Operation Hadin Kai, stated that the military recovered a camcorder containing propaganda material during the encounter.

Preliminary forensic analysis indicated that the failed attack was coordinated by four senior ISWAP commanders alongside three foreign terrorists. The Moroccan individual was identified as a medic within the terrorist network, while the Palestinian was assessed to be a trainer for ISWAP.

The military's intelligence suggests that ISWAP continues to benefit from external support and expertise.
