Nigeria Police Enhances Counter-Terrorism Training in Morocco

The Nigeria Police Force announced its initiative to strengthen counter-terrorism investigation capabilities after a team of officers completed a specialized training program in Morocco. This program, which took place from July 13 to 31, was organized by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) in collaboration with Al Akhawayn University.

A 10-member Nigerian delegation, led by ACP Favour Fadawa from the Nigeria Police Academy, participated in the three-week Train-the-Trainer program alongside law enforcement officers from Kenya and Burkina Faso. The training focused on identifying terrorist networks, dismantling criminal organizations, preserving admissible evidence, and conducting investigations in accordance with the rule of law.

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu emphasized the importance of the training in addressing complex terrorist and transnational criminal threats. He directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Development, DIG Isyaku Mohammed, to integrate the training into the Force’s curriculum.

Additionally, plans for an Executive Master’s Programme at the Nigeria Police Academy are advancing.
