Tinubu Extends Adeniyi's Tenure as Customs Chief by Six Months

President Bola Tinubu has granted a six-month extension to Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, whose previous term was set to end on August 1, 2026. This extension will now last until February 2027.

The President explained that the additional time will enable Adeniyi to smoothly complete the implementation of the national single window project and prepare for the handover process. Adeniyi will work directly with the Nigeria Customs Service Board to coordinate staff updates, including the promotion of qualified officers to the rank of Comptroller, while also managing the compulsory retirement of personnel who have reached the age of 60 after completing 35 years of active service.

Bayo Onanuga, a special adviser to the President, informed that this strategic announcement was made in a press statement released on Friday.
