Tinubu Extends Adeniyi's Tenure as Customs CG to 2027

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has granted a six-month extension to Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service. This extension, which will last until February 2027, follows the expiration of Adeniyi's first tenure extension on August 1, 2026.

The decision was communicated through a statement signed by the President's Special Adviser on Strategic Communications, Bayo Onanuga. The extension is intended to facilitate the consolidation and implementation of the national single window initiative, ensuring orderly success during the transition period.

Adewale Adeniyi has a long history with the Nigeria Customs Service, having joined in the late 1980s after graduating from Obafemi Awolowo University. He has held various positions, including Deputy Comptroller in 2012, Comptroller in 2017, and Assistant Comptroller General in 2020, before being appointed as Acting Deputy Comptroller General in January 2023 and subsequently as Comptroller General in June 2023.
