Kabiru Gaya Discusses Return to APC with Tinubu

Former Kano State Governor Kabiru Gaya explained his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, which included Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Senator Rufai Hanga. The meeting followed visits from APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and former Kano Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who encouraged Gaya to return to the ruling party.

Gaya, a founding member of the APC, recalled his role in the party's formation and the selection of its symbol, the broom. During the meeting, Gaya expressed concerns that some founding members had been neglected after the party came to power.

He clarified that there were no discussions regarding conditions or political appointments for his return to the APC. Instead, Tinubu urged them to remain engaged in the government they helped establish.

Gaya stated his decision to rejoin the APC was motivated by patriotism and a desire to serve Nigerians, noting that the opportunity to contest for the Senate had passed due to concluded primaries.
