Tinubu Hosts NDC Leaders Ahead of APC Defection

On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu received Rufai Hanga and Kabiru Gaya, prominent members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting was led by Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau.

Both Hanga and Gaya, who hail from Kano State, are reportedly preparing to officially defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming week. Hanga, who previously lost the Kano Central Senatorial ticket and a deputy governorship position under the NDC, is leaving the party after feeling overlooked by the NDC vice presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Similarly, Senator Gaya contested the Kano South NDC Senatorial seat but was unsuccessful after a consensus candidate emerged from Kwankwaso’s faction. Earlier, the national chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, had also met with Hanga and Gaya.
