Kaduna Approves New Salary Structure for KASU Lecturers

The Kaduna State government has approved a new salary structure for lecturers at the Kaduna State University (KASU) based on the recommendations of a nine-member Government-KASU-ASUU Negotiation Committee, which was established by Governor Uba Sani. The approved package includes the revised Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure (CONUASS), the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA), and other salary adjustments and allowances.

Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo, the Commissioner for Education and Chairman of the Negotiation Committee, stated that this decision demonstrates Governor Uba Sani's commitment to education and human capital development. Under the current administration, at least 25% of the state’s annual budget has been allocated to education, with significant interventions such as the construction of classrooms, provision of toilets, and distribution of furniture.

Additionally, the government has reduced tertiary education fees by 50% and extended the retirement age for teachers from 60 to 65 years. The reforms have also successfully addressed the out-of-school children crisis, reintegrating over 300,000 children into education.
