Kaduna Government Offers Bandits Free Education and Healthcare to Curb Insecurity

The Kaduna State Government has adopted a new peace approach focusing on providing education, healthcare, and livelihood support to bandits instead of cash rewards to address insecurity. The initiative aims to restore normalcy in areas once controlled by armed groups.

The model emphasizes long-term solutions over temporary military victories, with a focus on building trust through social investment and dialogue. The strategy has led to the reopening of closed schools, markets, and healthcare centers, addressing basic human needs to combat insecurity.

The approach has seen success with over 500 kidnapped individuals freed without ransom payments.
