Kaduna Flags Off N34bn Erosion Control Project

On Friday, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State flagged off a N34 billion flood and gully erosion control project. During the ceremony, he announced a N2 billion compensation payment for no fewer than 1,000 residents whose properties will be affected by the project, which spans across Rigasa in Igabi Local Government Area and Tudun Wada in Kaduna South Local Government Area.

Governor Sani emphasized that the administration prioritizes the welfare of citizens, ensuring that compensation is paid before any property is demolished for public projects. He stated that the government has previously paid N5 billion in compensation for various projects.

The erosion control project is described as the first comprehensive intervention of its scale in northern Nigeria, aiming to significantly reduce flooding and land degradation upon completion. The project is expected to improve environmental conditions and socio-economic living standards for residents within the project corridor.
