Uba Sani Launches N34bn Erosion Control Project in Kaduna

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has officiated the launch of a comprehensive flood gully erosion control project in Rigasa, Tudun Wada, Igabi, Kaduna South Local Government. The project, estimated to cost over N34 billion, aims to address chronic flooding issues that have plagued the area for the past 40 years.

During the launch, Governor Sani announced the distribution of N2 billion in compensation to 1,000 individuals whose homes will be affected by the project. He emphasized that no property will be demolished until adequate compensation is paid, highlighting the government's commitment to protecting the livelihoods of residents.

So far, the government has paid a total of N5 billion in compensation. The project will span 17.8 kilometers and is expected to significantly reduce flood risks, protect public infrastructure, and restore the environment, thereby enhancing the socio-economic conditions for approximately 500 residents within the corridor.
