Kaduna State Launches N34 Billion Erosion Project

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has approved a significant N34 billion intervention project aimed at tackling the long-standing environmental issues in Rigasa and surrounding communities. This initiative is designed to confront severe erosion, land degradation, and flooding that have plagued the area for over 30 years, threatening homes, businesses, and public infrastructure.

The project will cover a 17-kilometer corridor across the Igabi and Kaduna South local government areas. Governor Sani's approach emphasizes a comprehensive environmental restoration program that addresses the root causes of erosion rather than providing temporary fixes.

The funding for this project has already been secured, and ground-breaking is expected to commence within a week, with completion anticipated within 18 months. This initiative represents one of the largest environmental remediation projects ever undertaken in Kaduna State, reflecting a strategic plan to manage environmental challenges effectively.
