Stolen Newborn Recovered in Kaduna, Suspect Arrested
A newborn baby stolen from a house in Sabon Gari New Extension, Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was recovered in the Unguwar Ma’azu area. The baby's mother, Amina, was alerted on Monday evening about a woman claiming to have given birth.
Residents grew suspicious when the woman could not breastfeed the crying baby. Amina's niece urged her to identify the baby, leading Amina to recognize the woman as the one who had taken her baby.
Residents restrained Amina from confronting the suspect while contacting the police. The police confirmed the recovery of the baby, returning him to Amina.
Malam Garba, a resident who assisted in locating the baby, noted that the suspect initially claimed her baby was in the hospital and later said the baby had died. The incident occurred on Sunday when the suspect visited Amina's home, posing as a distant relative.
The Kaduna State Police Command spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the suspect is undergoing interrogation.
