Police Recover Stolen Newborn in Benue, Arrest Suspects

In Benue, a newborn stolen in the early hours of Tuesday was successfully recovered by the police. The infant was taken by a woman impersonating a nurse who claimed to need the baby for further care after delivery.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Peter Aondongu announced on Thursday that the baby had been reunited with the mother at Police ‘A’ Division in Gboko. Aondongu confirmed that multiple suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft, with some detained in Gboko and others at the state Police Command headquarters in Makurdi.

The exact number of suspects arrested remains unknown as the police await further details from the Gboko division. The PPRO indicated that more information regarding the arrests and ongoing investigation would be provided later.
