Kaduna State Signs N50bn Flood Control Contracts

On Friday, Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, signed contracts totaling N50 billion for major flood and erosion control projects. These initiatives are designed to address persistent flooding and land degradation affecting communities across the state.

The contracts were awarded following a transparent and competitive procurement process, with three construction firms selected: Mothercat Nigeria Limited, CGC Nigeria Limited, and Spectrum Engineering Limited. Mothercat Nigeria Limited will manage the Rigasa-Tudun Wada corridor project, spanning 17 kilometers, which includes structural engineering work, soil stabilization, and water flow management.

Spectrum Engineering Limited is tasked with the Kawo corridor project, covering three kilometers, focusing on expanding water channels and implementing erosion control measures. CGC Nigeria Limited will execute the Zaria township corridor project, stretching 11 kilometers, featuring drainage and flood prevention structures.

This project is part of a broader effort by the Kaduna State Government to reduce environmental risks, safeguard lives and properties, and improve climate resilience across the region.
