Kalu Commends Otti for C-of-O Approval in Bende

Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, praised Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti for approving Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) for two federal tertiary institutions in Bende Local Government Area: the Federal College of Education, Bende, and the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Item.

This commendation was made in a statement on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu. Kalu described the approval as a significant advancement for the institutions' establishment, which is expected to create employment opportunities, enhance access to quality education and healthcare, and stimulate economic activities in Bende and Abia State.

This development follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s assent in June 2025 to bills sponsored by Kalu for the institutions' establishment. Kalu emphasized the importance of collaboration between his office and the Abia State Government in advancing the state's development agenda and expressed optimism about the institutions' contributions to human capital development.
