Kannywood Actress Sentenced for Currency Tampering

Kannywood actress Saadatu Moham Inuwa, popularly known as Samha, was sentenced to six months imprisonment by the Federal High Court in Kano for abusing Nigerian currency. Justice S.M.

Shuaibu delivered the judgment after Inuwa pleaded guilty to charges brought against her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The charges stemmed from an incident in 2022 where she tampered with a 1,000 Naira note, which was found soiled and stuffed in her nose, violating Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act of 2007.

Prosecuting counsel Musa Isah reviewed the facts of the case and urged the court to convict the actress based on her guilty plea. Inuwa, who requested leniency, claimed this was her first offense and expressed remorse.

Ultimately, Justice Shuaibu convicted her and imposed a six-month prison sentence, which could be commuted to a fine of N200,000. Inuwa later paid the fine and was set free.
