Kannywood Actress Inuwa Jailed for Naira Note Tampering

Kannywood actress Inuwa was convicted for tampering with a 1,000 Naira note, an act that contravenes Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act of 2007. The judgment was delivered by Justice S.

M. Shuaibu, who noted that Inuwa pleaded guilty to the charges brought against her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2022.

During the proceedings, prosecuting counsel Musa Isah reviewed the facts of the case and urged the court to convict the actress based on her plea. Inuwa, who requested leniency, emphasized that this was her first offense and expressed remorse for her actions.

Justice Shuaibu ultimately sentenced her to six months in prison but provided an option for a fine of 200,000 Naira. Inuwa opted to pay the fine, which led to her release from custody.
