Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf Advocates for State Police

On Wednesday, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf declared the state's readiness for the establishment of a state police force, stating that it possesses the necessary institutional capacity, manpower, and political will to operate effectively once the constitutional framework is established. During the inauguration of the Inter-Agencies Task Force on Drug Abuse and Trafficking at the Government House in Kano, Yusuf articulated that the state police would work alongside the Nigeria Police Force to address security challenges, enhance intelligence gathering, and improve rapid response to threats.

He stressed that the state police should not be viewed as a competitor to the Nigeria Police Force but as a complementary entity in maintaining law and order. Yusuf reaffirmed his administration's commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen Nigeria's security architecture.

He also emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in combating drug abuse, urging task force members to perform their duties with professionalism and integrity.
