Kano Government Attributes Security Gains to Community Involvement

The Kano state government has attributed the enhancement of security in the state to increased community involvement in crime prevention and ongoing support for security agencies. Ibrahim Waiya, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, stated that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has implemented measures aimed at not only bolstering security agencies but also addressing the root causes of insecurity.

During an Award of Excellence in Security Governance presentation to Governor Yusuf by the Institute of Security and Strategic Studies (ISSS) in Kaduna, Waiya emphasized that security cannot be achieved solely through the deployment of personnel, highlighting the necessity of community engagement. He noted that the state government continues to support security agencies while promoting initiatives for community involvement in crime prevention.

Waiya asserted that security is a collective responsibility involving various sectors, including government, security institutions, traditional and religious leaders, civil society, and citizens. He expressed that the recognition of Governor Yusuf underscores the government's commitment to security governance and will motivate further efforts to ensure public safety and economic development.
