Kano State Government Halts Durbar Processions for Safety

The Kano State Government has announced the suspension of all Durbar processions and horse-riding activities within the Kano metropolis until further notice. This decision was made following an emergency meeting of the State Security Council held at the Government House, Kano.

The meeting reviewed the security situation surrounding the planned activities, which raised concerns about possible confrontations due to significant mobilization of supporters. In a statement issued by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Government House, the government emphasized that the suspension is a precautionary measure to protect lives and property and maintain public order.

The State Security Council directed all relevant security agencies to enforce this restriction and take lawful action against any violations. The government urged residents, traditional institutions, political actors, and stakeholders to remain calm and comply with the directive while assuring that measures are being taken to ensure safety and peace across the state.
