Kano Government Launches Out-of-School Children Survey

The Kano State Government unveiled the findings of its Out-of-School Children Survey on Thursday at the Kano State Ministry of Education. The event gathered government officials, education partners, traditional and community leaders, and development organizations.

The survey outlines the scale and distribution of out-of-school children in Kano, identifying factors contributing to their exclusion from education. Commissioner for Education, Gwani Dr Ali Haruna Makoda, reaffirmed the government's commitment to enhancing the education sector and ensuring that no child is left behind.

He stated that the findings would help identify urgent areas needing attention and develop strategies to enroll and support out-of-school children. Makoda called for collaboration among parents, communities, traditional institutions, and religious leaders to overcome barriers to education.

The Ministry of Education emphasized its dedication to using reliable data for educational planning and interventions, marking the report's dissemination as a significant step towards improving school enrollment and retention in Kano.
