Kano and Jigawa Customs Generate N63.07bn in 2026

The Kano and Jigawa Customs Area Command reported a revenue generation of N63.07 billion for the first half of the 2026 fiscal year, exceeding the N58.3 billion generated during the same period in 2025 by N4.6 billion, representing a 7.4% increase. This achievement was disclosed by Controller Usman Umar Adamu during a briefing with journalists in Kano.

Despite a decline in cargo throughput, the command generated N26 billion from the Kano Free Trade Zone, surpassing the total revenue of N4 billion generated in the zone from January to December 2025. The command's initiatives led to the recovery of N3 billion from abuse of transit procedures, with 14 containers intercepted for customs clearance violations.

Additionally, 22 suspects were arrested in connection with these seizures, which included various prohibited items. The command emphasized its commitment to facilitating legitimate trade while protecting the nation's economy.
