Kano State Government Bans Durbar Processions for Security

The Kano State Government has announced a restriction on all forms of Durbar processions and horse-riding activities within the Kano metropolis until further notice. This decision was communicated in a statement by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Government House, Kano.

The restriction follows an emergency meeting of the State Security Council, which reviewed the security situation surrounding the planned activities. The Council determined that there was significant mobilization of supporters related to these events, raising concerns about possible clashes and a breakdown of law and order.

To safeguard lives and property, the Council directed the suspension of the Durbar processions and horse-riding activities. All relevant security agencies have been instructed to enforce this restriction and take lawful action against any violations.

The government urged residents and stakeholders to remain calm and comply with the directive, assuring them that measures are being taken to maintain peace and public order in Kano State.
