Kano Taskforce Launches Committees Against Drug Trafficking

On August 21, 2026, Muhuyi Rimingado, the Chairman of the Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Trafficking, inaugurated nine subcommittees aimed at strengthening the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in Kano State. The inauguration was communicated through a statement by Lamara Garba, a member of the committee responsible for media and publicity.

Rimingado urged the committee members to show commitment, dedication, and determination in their roles, highlighting the importance of their responsibilities in combating drug-related issues. He emphasized that the success of the task force relies on the seriousness with which each committee approaches its tasks.

The nine committees include Finance, Media and Publicity; Advocacy and Sensitisation; Licences, Inventory and Verification; Compliance, Inspection and Electronic Tracking; Monitoring and Implementation; Intelligence; Reformative and Traditional Council; and Anti-Drug Coordination Committee. Notably, the statement listed only eight committee names despite mentioning nine.

Rimingado encouraged collaboration among members to achieve concrete results in the ongoing campaign against drug abuse and trafficking.
