Kano State Launches Task Force to Combat Drug Abuse

On Wednesday, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf inaugurated a Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse to address the increasing issue of substance abuse among the youth in Kano. The governor described drug abuse as a significant threat that contributes to violent crimes, family destruction, economic weakening, and social instability.

The task force will focus on intelligence gathering, enforcement, public enlightenment, rehabilitation, and collaboration with security agencies. Yusuf committed to providing adequate funding, operational vehicles, office accommodation, logistics, and security support for the task force.

He also signed an Executive Order aimed at curbing thuggery and related criminal activities, which will enhance the legal framework for dismantling criminal gangs and reducing political violence. The task force's chairman, Muhuyi Rimingado, expressed gratitude for the governor's trust and pledged to collaborate with various stakeholders to combat drug abuse and promote peace.

Yusuf urged residents to support the initiative by providing credible information and cooperating with security agencies.
