NWDC Commends Task Force for Drug Abuse Fight in Kano

The North-West Development Commission (NWDC) commended the Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Practices for its significant achievements in combating drug abuse during a courtesy visit on Wednesday in Kano. The Task Force, led by its Chairman Barr.

Rimingado, reported over 200 raids and more than 200 convictions since its inauguration, with some offenders receiving sentences of up to 10 years. Additionally, 120 vulnerable offenders are currently undergoing rehabilitation in correctional and reformatory centers.

Prof. Ma’aji, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NWDC, emphasized that drug abuse is a major contributor to insecurity and youth restiveness in the region. He assured that NWDC would incorporate drug prevention, rehabilitation, and youth empowerment into its development plans for the North-West states, including Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara.

Prof. Ma’aji expressed gratitude to Kano State Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf for his support and the establishment of the Multi-Agency Task Force.
